Tips on putting a Show-Reel together

  • Do not attempt a "homemade" showreel.
  • Keep the showreel to around 2.5 min MAX
  • Include as many different types of you as possible
  • Do not use any extras ie * Introducing the next big Star “ Etc
  • Include your name and contact details at the beginning and/or end of the showreel (or on the menu).
  • Duplicate on DVDs .
  • Label the DVD and it's cover with your name and your contact information.
  • Update your showreel regularly.

Tips for Actors' headshots

  • Use a professional headshot photographer.
  • Plain black or white clothes are best for black and white photography. No busy patterns. Bring a few changes of tops with you to the shoot.
  • Use a professional hair and makeup person if you are not confident in doing your own. Otherwise make sure to stay natural looking . (don’t forget powder for shininess) Look Like you !!!!
  • Discuss the looks you're after with the photographer first
  • Keep your expressions Honest & Truthful.
  • Get opinions from everyone when choosing a headshot.
  • Have your name and phone number printed on the front of the headshot within the white border
  • Get Copies on photographic (not photocopy or plain) paper.
  • Print your CV on the back of your Headshot and make sure the Casting Director or Director can write on it.

Tips on writing your CV

  • Use white A4 paper, black ink and an easy to read font (size 10-12).
  • Use rows and columns of information, not sentences .
  • Include your name and your contact information & what casting Site they can find you on.
  • Include your training, credits, awards and scholarships. Whenever possible, divide your credits and training into subsections. Years of attainment and personal details (such as measurements and Equity number) are optional. Be sure to include any licenses you hold and skills you are proficient in.
  • Keep your CV to one or two pages. If longer remove some older/less accomplished work or write 'Full list available upon request.'
  • Do not lie about your training & credits .
  • Do not include jobs outside the profession
  • Check for spelling mistakes
  • Update regularly.
